Eco Styler Gel w/ Olive Oil vs. Eco Styler Gel w/Argan Oil

I wasn’t going to do another product review so soon, but Sally’s still has this on sale ($2.99 for the jar in photo) until the end of March, so I thought it may be helpful.

As I mentioned before, I am not one for gel. Usually they flake and leave your hair feeling hard.  Hearing a lot of good things about Eco Styler Gel w/Olive Oil I decided to give it a try. For $1.29 (small jar) at the beauty supply store – why not right?

I am glad I did.  It is a much cheaper alternative to products like Kinky Curly Custard and Miss Jessies Curly Meringue. Initially, I used for twistouts – mixing some in a jar with my Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie. My thought was that it would  give it the extra hold the smoothie was lacking. I was right! perfect mixture. Some have expressed that the gel it left hair hard. My hair was neither hard or flaky and it added the hold I needed.

Since cutting out my relaxer I use it as a styler gel for my wash and go, of course still using the Curl Enhancing Smoothie for moisture. The smoothie also leaves your hair soft, so that eliminated the “gel like” feeling in my  hair.

I must admit I was surprised that it didn’t flake.  This is a good product for whatever style that would require you to use gel. I didn’t think I would have a gel in my “staple products” but this has now been included.

That being said they recently added a new gel to their line which I heard good and bad about so I decided to try while it was still on sale – Eco Sytler Gel w/Argan Oil. Both Argan Oil and Olive Oil are good for the hair and have benefits of adding to your hair regimen.

The hold was the same as well as no flaking.  I did notice a little more shine with my hair when using the Eco with the Olive Oil. The gel with Argan Oil did not define my curls as much as the other. My mother decided to take it off my hands and she uses it to set her roller sets and likes it.

I think they are both good products and it is just a preference as to which your hair likes better. I have used some of the more expensive products and this is a good inexpensive alternative.

Eco Styler Gel w/Olive Oil vs. Eco Styler Gel w/Argan Oil – I go with Olive Oil.

I give Eco w/Olive Oil 4 out of 5 Afro Picks and Eco w/Argan Oil 3 1/2 out of 5 Afro Picks…….

I found the trick!! If you use the curl enhancing smoothie and then the eco styler with argan oil, it eliminates the crunch! Feels just like the olive oil eco styler.

Excellent product review! I completely agree with the rating and everything said. I use the eco styler olive oil with a leave in and it never gets crunchy. With the get with argan oil, I get super crunch-even with leave in conditioner!

Thanks Krischa. I didn’t think there would be too much of a noticeable difference but it definitely was.
